Want to build a dynamic, arts community to amplify community development through the arts? The Old School Studio (TOSS) is seeking an intern to animate our mission and values through visual art. This will be a part-time, on-site, contract position responsible for the success of our student programming including an afterschool program, monthly workshops in public schools, and other one-off events and activities.
Primary Function
Studio interns will assist with educational programs, special projects, and events. This role is pivotal in fostering a thriving art education environment and promoting community engagement and growth.
TOSSafter: Our afterschool occurs M-Th, 3:30-6pm. Interns help prep the studio and materials, monitor and assist students, take photos, and clean the studio.
TOSSwork: Our monthly workshops in school occur 4-6 times per month. Interns assist with material prep for these workshops.
Special Projects and Events: Special projects and events occur every year such as the MADE competition, or the Downtown Art Competition, the TOSSing (end-of-term art parties), or fundraising events. Interns help prep, set up, and lead logistical components of these projects. They may set up and monitor booths during public events, or lead art activities at partnering events.
Hours, Physical Demands, and Work Environment
Hours: This internship can be completed in any of our summer, fall, or spring semesters. Internships may last longer than one semester but must always be renewed by the manager at the end of the semester. A Studio Intern will be expected to work in our studio at set hours (determined by the intern and TOSS Director). Generally, the available times are 3:30-6pm Monday-Thursday. Periodically, events occur on the weekend or other times. These will be scheduled in advance.
Mobility: You must be willing to travel throughout Burke County and have reliable transportation.
